Welcome to the land of light

          Kalkan is a natural harbour village. First visitors to this land was firewood carrier ships and their crew.Previous name of this village was "Kalamaki",where the Greek origined people lived in. Those people had migrated to Australia and Greece after 1923. In Kalkan, it is so usual to encounter Australian tourists who try to find the house they were born in.

PATARA

Patara is located at southwestern Lykia's blessing Xanthos Valley. At ancient ages, Patara had been located on the connection between Pamfilia and Karia.Regarding to another belief , Patara had been founded by water fairy Lykia and Apollon's son Patarus.Patara Beach is the longest beach among the beaches of Turkey.Its length is nearly 18km.This beach is a good place for Caretta Catrettas to lay eggs.Therefore this beach is under protection. Patara Beach is also a perfect place to watersurfing.

 

XANTHOS

You can reach Xanthos through a 500m road curling to right at Kinik's Esen Stream.Here it is worth to see Nereids Monuments , Helenistic ruins , Lykia Acropolis , Pilar Monument.

LETOON

Letoon is located 2 km far from Xanthos.Here you can see Roman church and Roman amphi-theater.You can also use the beach at this place.

KAPUTAS BEACH

Kaputas Beach is on the way to Kas and it is 7km far from Kalkan.This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of this coast. But you have to be careful about the waves in the sea when the weather is windy.

SEA CAVES

Guvercinlik

You can only enter here through swimming. This cave is a bit cool due to streams flowing under the sea.

Guvercin cave

This cave is placed opposite the cave mentioned above.Due to narrow enterance , you can only enter this cave through swimming.

Blue Cave

Small sailboats can enter this cave which is located 500m away from Kaputas Beach. You can view a very beautiful sight of the bright blue water here.

Pinara

Pinara means "circular" in Lykia language. You can see a huge amphi-theatre , acropolis and agora ruins here.
